Our Story
John W. Tieder, Inc. was incorporated in the State of Maryland in 1955. Since that time the firm has grown from a two man operation into a corporation which has over 125 employees. Beginning with the first installation of Square D Symax equipment at the Eastern Shore Correctional Institute, John W. Tieder, Jr. saw the need to create a separate controls division which has developed into Tieder Controls.
This portion of John W. Tieder, Inc. has the capability to create SCADA system designs, control system design, CADD development, production, control wiring, instrumentation, and communication media. As the local Control System Integrator, Tieder Controls, has the ability to design, build, test and install the latest in PLC, Control, Security, and Video technology for any number of applications. Installations are in place all over the Eastern Shore for Wastewater and Water Treatment Plants, Video Security systems for a building, parking lots or downtown areas, Security Entrance systems for buildings or other secure areas, Detention Center control consoles for cells, phones, and video systems, County Wide SCADA systems to monitor all functions of Water and Wastewater systems. For the food industry we have provided computer control systems to insure that the last packaged item is the same as the first packaged item. In a nutshell, if you can dream it, we will build it and most important make it work.
Assembly and testing of the control panels is done in our panel shop which is a relatively new building which allows us to build and test the panels prior to shipment. The panel shop is UL508A (File #E149824) for Control Panels and UL698A (File #E315143) for Intrinsic Safety Barriers. All of our panels can be shipped with serialized name plates if required. Components are supplied from stock including enclosures used as part of our regular production cabinets. Testing equipment is in house. Software programs can be installed and tested to the limitations of the equipment. Training can be done in house where necessary. We have a 42 inch plasma screen which can be attached to a computer for demonstration of software. Also in house are the normal grease boards and flipcharts.
John W. Tieder Inc. has been listed in the Blue Book since 1981.
